How do you know……. You’ve Arrived.
Trains pull in to stations predicted by one arrivals board. 20 departures ones.
Arrival almost incidental. People get off, but people leaving more important.
Going somewhere else. Need to know where they are going.
The present place a leaving place. Not an arrival.
Keen to go.
But the train arrives.
And for a few moments. Is there.
Dropping off. Picking up.
Here. In the moment. Between arrival and leaving.
Is placed. Is stable. Is here.
Located.
Arrival in life seems to be as incidental. 1 article compared to 3000 on transitions, thresholds, caterpillar goo and coping in survival.
So how do you know?
When the crying stops…. or when the crying starts?
When the dreaming stops…..or when the dreams start?
When the caring for others reduces? or when compassion takes over?
When thoughts stop….but imagination takes over?
When youre in the light, and the darkness stop?
Maybe it’s less the what.
And it’s the position.
Arrival. Is Being Home.
In a position.
A place.
Youve arrived home safe.
(a saying im only just feeling now for the first time in my life)
Arrived home… to safety.
Arrived home… to peace in the room and the generosity of a warm….heart….
Arrived home…..alive…
Alive. Alive to everything.
In. In the middle.
Between
Some say the arrival never comes.
The train on an endless loop line.
Exhaustion never ceases. Survival a comfortable cloud.
round and round. Train carriages full.
No drop offs. No new passengers.
Dizzy. Stagnation.
No Station.
Arrived.
For ‘it takes so long to take your place in your life’ (John O Donohue)
Your life.
Arrival in a place and time.
That is now.
That is not someone else’s.
Not pulled by train thats not you as the driver.
Not on someone else’s tracks.
Not with renegade signal, with unavoidable crashes.
Not looking over your shoulder at the runaway train chasing you down.
Arrived. Here. Safe.
Controls. Signals. Driving.
Being in the present. Of the now.
Timetable your choosing.
Pace that you set.
Engine honed the training of the driver.
Feeling the power forwards.
Feeling the power fast or slow.
Arrived.
Leaving one place. Not in another.
Knowing that you are here.
And this is here is the place.
No need to go anywhere.
To be anything.
To look back.
You arrived.
How do you know?
You dont.
You…. might….. just…… feel……. it.
to be true.
Fully.
As full as the train fills the station.
Completes. Expands.
Into being.
Arrival.
Do we ever truly arrive?
We can in the moment be.
Notice that we are being.
Here.
